Ideal for bird watching and hiking, this trail offers a peaceful experience with few other visitors. The prime months to visit are from August to March.
Wallace Bay National Wildlife Area Loop: The Wallace Bay National Wildlife Area Trail, located near Pugwash in the Northumberland Shore region, is a 4 km loop winding through diked wetlands. It offers a vital habitat for migrating and breeding waterfowl. Bird watchers will find numerous opportunities to observe wildlife, including a viewing blind at the 1150-metre mark. As a shared-use area, Wallace Bay National Wildlife Area permits hunting, fishing, and humane trapping during designated seasons. It is particularly popular among waterfowl hunters in the fall. Visitors are strongly advised to wear blaze orange during hunting seasons for safety.
